Emilie & Josh - Lake District Elopement at Cote How, Rydal

Updated: Mar 15, 2023

On a typical autumnal day in the Lake District with sun and showers Emilie & Josh eloped. They chose the beautiful Cote How where Sophie & Steve hosted a perfect day for them. None of their family or friends knew the plan and so the whole day was a secret only the two of them shared.

Once they arrived, Emilie put on her dress ready for their first look outside the traditional lakeland house. It was a lovely moment to share with each other before they share their vows.

Emilie & Josh were so lucky that the rain held off for their outdoor ceremony. They laughed and smiled through their vows before officially signing as Mr & Mrs Bennion. A quick glass of fizz to celebrate and it was time for the real adventure!

We walked up to Rydal caves which is around a 20minute walk from Cote How. Of course we stopped for some photographs on the way. At the top we took in the views, explored the caves and had a celebratory drink. I love the mugs that Emilie & Josh brought with them.

On our way back down, once we had reached Rydal water the heavens opened! The rain was so heavy you could see it bouncing on the water. Emilie & Josh were such good sports and were happy to go along with my crazy suggestion to have a paddle.

Once we returned to Cote How we spotted a rainbow. We really did have all the weather and it made for amazing photographs.

While we had been away Steve & Sophie had organised a picnic for their return. It looked incredible and Emilie & Josh got wrapped up in blankets and tucked in under the fairy lights.

Emile & Josh's elopement was a dream to photograph. I was spoilt rotten with an amazing venue, amazing couple, stunning scenery and a mix of weather. I had so much fun with them both and I'm sure our adventure will stay in my mind for a long time.
